Too Cool for School

Kids and I had a great day running errands and getting new sunglasses to wear on all our bike rides
At the Koi fish store buying more plants for our pond and food for our fish, of course, it is always fun to look at all the other fish and reptiles too!

Vacation Bible School

Kids went to a week of Vacation Bible School at the church across the street from our house.
Superstar: Child of God was the theme for the week
Both kids learned the 10 commandments and once they could repeat them to a leader, they got two purple shoe strings- Corben wanted his put on him like the above picture
Kids on far right (front) on the last night they did a performance for all the parents

1st SWIM in new POOL

The pool is filled and kids are ready for a swim

Corben jumped in from deep end

Swam all the way to the shallow end
The first night Caleb had us put towels on the steps so we wouldn't stain them.
Now Corben is diving off the diving board!

...and diving off the Jump Rock
...
as the temperatures have been in the 100s, we are so thankful our pool is swim ready!  Now, to continue the backyard transformation!

Last school days of 2015

Summer Journals & Reading Logs

In order to keep the kids reading and writing this summer...we have started a few FUN things for our summer.

1. Summer Journals, the kids color a picture and write a couple sentences each day about whatever is on their mind.  They can journal anything they want.

I thought the first 2 days of Corben's journal were so sweet and kind and loving.... (click on picture to enlarge)
....now read below for journal entry day 3 of summer break.....
....he is already throwing a pizza at Mason and wanting to hear her scream!  They crack me up....but I am hoping we continue the sweet and loving attitude!  Day 3 is way too early for the wars to start!
Mason's journal entries have all been sweet, her penmanship is fabulous!  And her drawings are always imaginative!
...
2. We are also doing Reading Logs

The kids must read 5 books per day and write the name of the book, author and how many pages.

They then get to color in a space for reading a book and when they get to 100, they get to buy a new game or toy.
(we initially started with 10 books a day, but had to cut back to 5....we have busy days already)

Playing with Kamden

We watched little 3 year old friend Kamden Kain
Kids had a great time playing with him
Playing Zingo (sight word bingo)
We made a huge car track on the carpet

Corben read the kids books
